# andata-2 > andata-2 is a 4-track video live looper that runs in the browser: a video groovebox and sampler for live audiovisual performance. Record four webcam + microphone clips into banks, shape them, sequence them with a 16-step sequencer, perform them as a split-screen composition, and export the result as MP4. Free and open source; nothing is uploaded. ## What it is for - Live audiovisual performance and VJ-style sets built from your own camera footage - Making beat-synced split-screen music videos without a video editor - Sketching loop-based music where every sound is also a picture ## Workflow 1. Record: pick a camera and mic, choose bank 1–4, record a clip (video + audio, encoded to MP4 in the browser via WebCodecs and mediabunny). 2. Shape: per bank — trim start/end, gain, pan, ADSR amplitude envelope, choke (retrigger cuts vs. overlaps), and video effects (two-tone gradient map, crush: pixelate X/Y and colour bit depth). 3. Sequence: 16-step grid at a set BPM; per-row mute; randomize and clear. 4. Perform: playing banks are composited live — 1 full frame, 2 side by side (stacked in vertical), 3 as two over one, 4 as a 2×2 grid — in 16:9 or 9:16. Audio is mixed through a master bus with a stereo meter. 5. Bounce: record the composed stage (picture + sound) and download it as MP4. ## Requirements - A Chromium-based browser (Chrome, Edge, Dia) with WebCodecs and Web Audio - Optional: WebGPU, for the GPU renderer and shaders (otherwise a 2D canvas renderer is used) - Camera and microphone permission; served over HTTPS or localhost - Headphones recommended while recording ## Links - [App](https://andata-2.acrosspolyethylene.com/): the instrument itself - [Source code and README](https://github.com/reckoner165/andata-2): setup, architecture, and development notes ## Keywords video looper, live looper, video sampler, groovebox, step sequencer, sampler, music production, live performance, audiovisual, VJ, live visuals, beat making, loop station, webcam instrument, browser instrument, Web Audio, WebCodecs
